Application Letters
and Forms

At some point in
your career, you will have to write a letter applying for a job or
complete a personal statement on an application form. Obviously, you
want the reader of this to invite you to an interview.
Here is my best
advice and some examples of letters:
-
Write on plain
white paper. If you struggle to keep your lines of writing straight use
feint pencil lines as a guide and rub these out when you have completed
the writing.
-
Use a pen that helps you to produce your best handwriting and write in a
sensible colour of
ink
-
black or
blue
NOT
red
or
green.
-
Try to write in short simple sentences.
-
It is a good idea to write your letter on a PC using Word and use the
spell and grammar check. This draft copy can then be copied.
