Grammar Gift

If you are not really sure where to put o full stop or use a comma, I hope that these PowerPoint presentations will help. It is the really 'old-fashioned' method that was used long ago. If you work through the following lessons, I know that the skills you acquire will help you write an application letter:

Application Letters and Forms

At some point in your career, you will have to write a letter applying for a job or complete a personal statement on an application form.  Obviously, you want the reader of this to invite you to an interview.

Here is my best advice and some examples of letters:

  • Write on plain white paper. If you struggle to keep your lines of writing straight use feint pencil lines as a guide and rub these out when you have completed the writing.

  • Use a pen that helps you to produce your best handwriting and write in a sensible colour of ink - black or blue NOT red or green.

  • Try to write in short simple sentences.

  • It is a good idea to write your letter on a PC using  Word and use the spell and grammar check. This draft copy can then be copied.

If you have to send a C.V. click here to get a template that will help:

 < Boaster Poster >   < CV Starter >

Use the Boaster Poster to help identify all your positive qualities and use this to help with the personal statement on the C.V.
